Venn
2013 – 2018

Stuart co-founded Venn with Benjamin Smith Leverock Esser and John Petrie in London in 2013. Essentially a contemporary post-punk group citing the influence of Wire, Liars, Deerhunter &c., their self-released EP ‘Echoes from Foreign Spaces’ caught the attention of the label Full Time Hobby, who subsequently signed the band and released their only LP ‘Runes’ in 2017. Throughout their existence they played extensively throughout England and occasionally in Europe. Some of the early sketches for Venn’s second LP eventually found life as track on the debut Wandering Rocks LP, “Stall”.

Sacred Son
2017 – ongoing

Dane Cross presents his singular vision of black metal via his Sacred Son moniker. After the success of his eponymous debut album, Cross recruited a group of musicians, including Stuart on guitar, to form a live band. This unit then went on to perform on the two subsequent self-released LPs ‘Arthurian Catacombs’ and ‘The Foul Deth of Engelond’, and continued to perform throughout England.

The Telescopes
2014 – 2018

Stuart played live guitar for Stephen Lawrie’s long-running and influential psychedelic noise project The Telescopes. During his tenure, Stuart toured extensively in the UK and Europe, playing in festivals, squats, and everything in between. Fill the room, or clear the room.

FulangChang&I
2008 – 2013

Stuart’s first band upon moving to London, Fulangchang&I shifted through many iterations of members and instrumentation to explore moods that veered from Slint-esque language grooves, to claustrophobic stases, to expansive motoriks. It was as the final duo that Stuart met film-maker and musician Adam Mufti; a long-time friend and creative confidant that he continues to collaborate with today.
