Wandering Rocks are two words, borrowed from a book, as the moniker of Bristol-based musician and composer Stuart Gardham. Cleaving to a long line of England’s esoteric underground, he uses electronics, field recordings, sub bass, and strings to construct a sound that is eerie, melancholic and dislocating.
Since starting in local DIY scenes 15 years ago, he has toured extensively in the UK and Europe, and performed in squats, clubs, theatres, and fields. His recorded output consists of solo and collaborative pieces that have appeared as LPs, CDs, books and video. These works have been self-produced and -released, as well as more conventionally through independent labels like State51 and Full Time Hobby.
Currently he is preparing the release of Wandering Rocks’ sophomore album, ‘Course’, producing explicitly beat-forward tracks under his own name, and continuing the collaborative horizontal dronescape duo, 1/2.
